ܘܐܡܪ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܟܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܗܐ ܫܡܥܬ ܒܩܠܟܘܢ ܟܘܠ ܕܐܡܪܬܘܢ ܠܝ ܘܐܡܠܟܬ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ
w'mr shmw'yl lklh 'ysr'yl h' shmeth bqlkwn kwl d'mrthwn ly w'mlkth elykwn mlk'
Samuel said to all Israel, “Behold, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.

ܘܗܫܐ ܗܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܣܐܒܬ ܘܩܫܬ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܗܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܗܠܟܬ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܝ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ
whsh' h' mlk' qdmykwn w'n' s'bth wqshth wbny h' emkwn w'n' hlkth qdmykwn mn Tlywthy wedm' lywmn'
Now, behold, the king walks before you. I am old and gray-headed. Behold, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my youth to this day.

ܗܐ ܩܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܣܗܕܘ ܒܝ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܩܕܡ ܡܫܝܚܗ ܬܘܪܐ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܕܒܪܬ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܕܒܪܬ ܐܘ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܛܠܡܬ ܐܘ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܐܠܨܬ ܐܘ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܢܣܒܬ ܫܘܚܕܐ ܘܐܨܕܬ ܥܝܢܝ ܒܗ ܐܡܪܘ ܠܝ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܦܪܘܥܟܘܢ
h' q'm 'n' qdmykwn shdw by qdm mry' wqdm mshykhh thwr' dmn dbrth wkhmr' dmn dbrth 'w lmn Tlmth 'w lmn 'ltsth 'w mn 'yd' dmn nsbth shwkhd' w'tsdth eyny bh 'mrw ly w'n' 'prwekwn
Here I am. Witness against me before Yahweh and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܛܠܡܬܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܠܨܬܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܣܒܬ ܡܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܢ ܡܕܡ
'mryn lh l' Tlmthn wl' 'ltsthn wl' nsbth mn 'nsh mnn mdm
They said, “You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from anyone’s hand.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܗ̇ܕ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܣ̇ܗܕ ܒܟܘܢ ܡܫܝܚܗ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܬܘܢ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܡܕܡ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܣܗ̇ܕ
'mr lhwn shd bkwn 'lh' wshd bkwn mshykhh ywmn' dl' 'shkkhthwn b'ydy mdm w'mryn shd
He said to them, “Yahweh is witness against you, and his anointed is witness today, that you have not found anything in my hand.” They said, “He is witness.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܥܡܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܡܘܫܐ ܘܠܐܗܪܘܢ ܘܐܣܩ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܬܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ
w'mr shmw'yl lem' mry' hw blkhwd 'lh' debd lmwsh' wl'hrwn w'sq l'bhthn mn 're' dmtsryn
Samuel said to the people, “It is Yahweh who appointed Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

ܩܘܡܘ ܗܫܐ ܘܐܕܘܢܟܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܟܠܗ̇ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܗ ܕܥܒܕ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܘܥܡ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ
qwmw hsh' w'dwnkwn qdm mry' bklh zdyqwthh debd emkwn wem 'bhykwn
Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before Yahweh concerning all the righteous acts of Yahweh, which he did to you and to your fathers.

ܟܕ ܥܠ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܨܠܝܘ ܐܒ̈ܗܝܟܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܘܫܐ ܘܠܐܗܪܘܢ ܘܐܣܩ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܘܬܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܬܪܐ ܗܢܐ
kd el yeqwb lmtsryn wtslyw 'bhykwn qdm mry' wshdr mry' lmwsh' wl'hrwn w'sq l'bhykwn mn 're' dmtsryn w'wthb 'nwn b'thr' hn'
“When Jacob had come into Egypt, and your fathers cried to Yahweh, then Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt, and made them to dwell in this place.

ܘܛܥܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܣܝܣܪܐ ܪܒ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܚܨܘܪ ܘܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܘܐܒ ܘܐܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡܗܘܢ
wTew lmry' 'lhhwn w'shlm 'nwn b'yd' dsysr' rb khyl' dkhtswr wb'yd' dplshthy' wb'yd' dmlk' dmw'b w'thkthshw emhwn
But they forgot Yahweh their God; and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab; and they fought against them.

ܘܨܠܝܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܚܛܝܢ ܥܠ ܕܫܒܩܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܘܦܠܚܢ ܠܒܥܠܐ ܘܠܓܢܝ̈ܬܐ ܘܗܫܐ ܦܨܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܒܥ̈ܠܕܒܒܝܢ ܘܢܦܠܚܟ
wtslyw qdm mry' w'mrw khTyn el dshbqn lmry' 'lhn wplkhn lbel' wlgnyth' whsh' ptsn mn 'yd' dbeldbbyn wnplkhk
They cried to Yahweh, and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken Yahweh and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.’

ܘܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܕܒܘܪܐ ܘܠܒܪܩ ܘܠܓܕܥܘܢ ܘܠܢܦܬܚ ܘܠܫܡܫܘܢ ܘܦܨܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܚܕܪ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܘܝܬܒܬܘܢ ܒܫܠܝܐ
wshdr mry' ldbwr' wlbrq wlgdewn wlnpthkh wlshmshwn wptsykwn mn 'yd' dbeldbbykwn dmn khdrykwn wythbthwn bshly'
Yahweh sent Jerubbaal, Bedan, Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you lived in safety.

ܘܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܠܢܚܫ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܢܝ̈ ܥܡܘܢ ܕܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܢܡܠܟ ܥܠܝܢ ܘܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܡܠܟܟܘܢ
wkhzythwn lnkhsh mlk' dbny emwn d'th' elykwn w'mrthwn l' hkn' 'l' mlk' nmlk elyn wmry' 'lhkwn mlkkwn
“When you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king shall reign over us,’ when Yahweh your God was your king.

ܘܗܫܐ ܗܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܓܒܝܬܘܢ ܘܫܐܠܬܘܢ ܗܐ ܝܗܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܠܟܐ
whsh' h' mlk' dgbythwn wsh'lthwn h' yhb lkwn mry' mlk'
Now therefore see the king whom you have chosen and whom you have asked for. Behold, Yahweh has set a king over you.

ܘܐܢ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܬܦܠܚܘܢܗ ܘܬܫܡܥܘܢ ܒܩܠܗ ܘܠܐ ܬܡܪܡܪܘܢܗ ܬܗܘܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܦ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܡܠܟ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܒܬܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ
w'n thdkhlwn mn mry' wthplkhwnh wthshmewn bqlh wl' thmrmrwnh thhwwn 'p 'nthwn 'p mlk' d'mlk elykwn bthr mry' 'lhkwn
If you will fear Yahweh, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of Yahweh, then both you and also the king who reigns over you are followers of Yahweh your God.

ܘܐܠܐ ܬܫܡܥܘܢ ܒܩܠܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܘܬܡܪܡܪܘܢܗ ܬܗܘܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܗܘܬ ܒܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ
w'l' thshmewn bqlh dmry' 'lhkwn wthmrmrwnh thhw' 'ydh dmry' bkwn 'yk dhwth b'bhykwn
But if you will not listen to Yahweh’s voice, but rebel against the commandment of Yahweh, then Yahweh’s hand will be against you, as it was against your fathers.

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܬܛܝܒܘ ܘܚܙܘ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܕܥܒ̇ܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ

“Now therefore stand still and see this great thing, which Yahweh will do before your eyes.

ܗܐ ܚܨܕܐ ܗܘ ܕܚ̈ܛܐ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܐܩܪܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܬܠ ܩܠܐ ܘܡܛܪܐ ܘܕܥܘ ܘܚܙܘ ܕܒܝܫܬܟܘܢ ܪܒܐ ܗܝ ܕܫܐܠܬܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ
h' khtsd' hw dkhT' ywmn' 'qr' lmry' wnthl ql' wmTr' wdew wkhzw dbyshthkwn rb' hy dsh'lthwn lkwn mlk'
Isn’t it wheat harvest today? I will call to Yahweh, that he may send thunder and rain; and you will know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in Yahweh’s sight, in asking for a king.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܩܪܐ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܠܐ ܘܡܛܪܐ ܒܐܬܪܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܟܘܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ
hydyn qr' shmw'yl lmry' wyhb mry' ql' wmTr' b'thr' hw wdkhlw kwlh em' Tb mn mry' wmn shmw'yl
So Samuel called to Yahweh, and Yahweh sent thunder and rain that day. Then all the people greatly feared Yahweh and Samuel.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܟܘܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܠܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܨܠܐ ܥܠ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܟ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܘܠܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܘܣܦܢ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܝܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܕܫܐܠܢ ܠܢ ܡܠܟܐ
w'mrw kwlh em' lshmw'yl tsl' el ebdyk qdm mry' 'lhk wl' nmwth mTl d'wspn el klhwn khThyn byshth' rbth' dsh'ln ln mlk'
All the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ ܠܥܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܒܕܬܘܢ ܗܕܐ ܟܠܗ̇ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܒܪܡ ܠܐ ܬܣܛܘܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܦܘܠܚܘܗܝ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܠܒܟܘܢ
w'mr shmw'yl lem' l' thdkhlwn 'nthwn ebdthwn hd' klh byshth' brm l' thsTwn mn bthrh dmry' 'l' pwlkhwhy lmry' bklh lbkwn
Samuel said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. You have indeed done all this evil; yet don’t turn away from following Yahweh, but serve Yahweh with all your heart.

ܘܠܐ ܬܣܛܘܢ ܒܬܪ ܣܪ̈ܝܩܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܡܘܬܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܡ̈ܦܨܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܣܪ̈ܝܩܬܐ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ
wl' thsTwn bthr sryqth' dl' thmwthwn wl' mptsyn lkwn mTwl dsryqth' 'nyn
Don’t turn away to go after vain things which can’t profit or deliver, for they are vain.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܒ̇ܩ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܥܡܗ ܡܛܘܠ ܫܡܗ ܪܒܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܬܛܦܝܣ ܠܡܥܒܕܟܘܢ ܠܗ ܥܡܐ
mTl dl' shbq mry' lemh mTwl shmh rb' mTl d'thTpys lmebdkwn lh em'
For Yahweh will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased Yahweh to make you a people for himself.

ܘܐܢܐ ܚܣ ܠܝ ܕܐܚܛܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܨܠܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܠܦܟܘܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܬܪܝܨܬܐ
w'n' khs ly d'khT' lmry' wl' 'tsl' elykwn w'lpkwn 'wrkh' Tbth' wthrytsth'
Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

ܐܠܐ ܕܚܠܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܦܘܠܚܘܗܝ ܒܩܘܫܬܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܘܒܟܠܗ̇ ܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܘܚܙܘ ܕܡܘܪܒ ܥܡܟܘܢ
'l' dkhlw lmry' wpwlkhwhy bqwshth' bklh lbkwn wbklh npshkwn wkhzw dmwrb emkwn
Only fear Yahweh, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.

ܘܐܢ ܡܒܐܫܘ ܬܒܫܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܦ ܡܠܟܟܘܢ ܬܡܘܬܘܢ
w'n mb'shw thbshwn 'p 'nthwn 'p mlkkwn thmwthwn
But if you keep doing evil, you will be consumed, both you and your king.”
